PERTUMBUHAN POPULASI DAN PERKEMBANGAN Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) (COLEOPTERA: TENEBRIONIDAE) PADA BEBERAPA VARIETAS BERAS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pertumbuhan populasi dan perkembangan populasi  T. castaneum pada beberapa varietas beras. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Hama Tumbuhan, Departemen Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Penelitian ini terdiri dari sepuluh perlakuan dan diulang empat kali untuk pengamatan pertumbuhan populasi dan tiga kali untuk pengamatan perkembangan. Penelitian ini disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Penelitian dilakukan dengan menginfestasi 15 pasang imago T. castaneum yang berumur 7–14 hari ke dalam tabung yang berisi 30 g beras pakan. Pengamatan perkembangan dilakukan dengan menggunakan 10 butir telur dari imago baru T. castaneum yang dipasangkan pada hari yang sama dan dimasukkan ke dalam tabung fial berisi 3 g pakan beras. Variabel yang diamati pada penelitian ini yaitu mortalitas imago, jumlah telur, larva, pupa, imago baru, fase telur, larva, pupa, dan praoviposisi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas beras tidak mempengaruhi pertumbuhan populasi dan perkembangan.
